Cyber9erCruise, Nov. 7-8, 1998

It rained and only Invictus and California Girl showed up...and we didn't make it past Oyster Point Marina. Invictus sailed up from Redwood City and California Girl from Alameda on Friday everning. We made radio contact before arriving and met at the entrance to Oyster Point Channel. It had been a beautiful evening of sailing, but the storm clouds were gathering. We had reserved a couple of slips and found them without problem. It soon became windy and wet!

All night long it stormed. It was still nasty at Saturday noon, so we decided to stay where we were, safely tied to a dock rather than swinging at anchor, and paid for another night. It soon began to clear up. Thinking we might have acted too soon, we started calling others whom we expected to see. One by one they gave us their excuses.

So we had a pleasant time at Oyster Point, a nice Saturday night party of two boats, and another nice sail back down to Redwood City on Sunday (while listening to the 49ers and noting that there was no blimp, anyway).

Better luck next year...and maybe time for a recruitment drive for some hearty sailors.
